INTERIOR PHOTOGRAPHY LIGHTING: ON OR OFF?

When working on photoshoot, every professional photographer tests different options and here I want to share my experience as interior and real estate photographer in New York, how I prefer to work with light.
Let's say, answering this question is not so easy as it might seem to be at first glance. Interior and other types of photography has several standards, important for professional photogra-phers. Where to put right focus? Which details to emphasise? How to create right impression? These questions help us to understand what to do.
WELL, IT DEPENDS…
In case there are no guidelines, the situation gets a bit complicated. Then everything de-pends on the shooting type: it might be real estate photography, interior design photography, interior editorial photography, etc. Each type of photography requires focus on specific details and has some peculiarities regarding lighting.

The first thing which matters is for sure some basic instructions from your customer. And when they are provided, it is the best option, as photographer can easily understand, how he should work and the customers knows exactly, what he want to get at the end.

MOVING ON: FOCUSING ON THE PHOTOGRAPHY TYPE
Sometimes real estate photographer can make shooting with light turned on and off and to add the necessary light in the editor programme. As usual, the light of lamps is more typical for Real Estate photography.
In most cases this type of photography is shoot with the light off, in order to show natural light ing, making major focus more on the design rather than on the space itself. It helps to keep the right white balance and to avoid "blue spaces" or any types of yellow spots.
MORE THINGS TO KNOW
Keep in mind, that different lamps have different light, temperature, and intensity.
LED might look a bit bluish.
Classical light of lamp might look yellowish.
Too light lamp will be a big not visible spot.
